Writing Google Adwords
Much of your success
with Google Adwords will depend on your ability to write good
ads. Here are some tips I use for writing ads that get attention
and gain clicks.
1. Include the actual
search phrase in the ad title and description when writing
your Google ad. This works well for 2 reasons.
First, Google bolds
the words in your ad that match the search request. This makes
your ad stand out.
Second, the searcher
will see that your ad includes her search terms and assume
your ad is more relevant to her search for information than
an ad that doesn't not.
2. When writing your
Google Adwords, think from the perspective of the searcher.
What are they looking for? This goes beyond the obvious keywords
included in the title and description; this is the psychology
of the searcher. Are they looking for the best deal? Are they
looking for reviews? Are they looking for more information
on the subject?
Testing the ads you
write will reveal more information as you go. For example,
I've found that people searching for information on cholesterol
respond twice as often to "lower your cholesterol"
than they do to "got high cholesterol?" Yet, writing
an ad that included "high cholesterol solution"
outperformed both of the other two example.
The bottom line?
There is no magic bullet for writing effective ads, so test,
test, test!

Hot Tips For Writing A Profit Producing Google Ad . . .
You can get ad copy
ideas by studying similar product's advertising material.
It doesn't necessarily have to be for Adwords - look at magazines,
billboards, junk mail, etc.
Notice what catches
your eye or would make you want to click on an ad.
You can also look
at the existing ad copy used by current advertisers. The ones
near the top are likely the best performers, although those
advertisers may also be willing for a variety of reasons to
spend more per click.
Read each ad critically
and ask yourself, “If I wouldn’t click on this
ad, why not? Would could it say that would make me want to
click it?”
A special note:
I once had someone
begin competing with me who stole my EXACT ad. That really
stinks. Don't do that.
It's OK to borrow;
it's not OK to steal.
Best wishes, John
